Celebrate and Make It Count

One of the most powerful stress management techniques is to find your way into the present moment. When we are stressed or anxious we are often consumed by an event from the past or a fear of the unknown in our future. It is easier said than done but, getting back into our bodies, in the present moment, in a positive way is a very powerful way to combat our anxiety/stress. You can do this by focusing on your breath. Breath in cool air, pause after you inhale, and then slowly exhale warm air, fully and completely. Repeat this 3-4 times, slowly, and you will begin to “let go” and start to calm down.
As I write this blog in December, I know that the “Holidays” or “Holidaze” are coming upon us. Most of us have memories, both good and not so good, of past holiday celebrations. Expectations can get in the way of holiday celebration. My suggestion is to release the major expectations, get into the present, and find a way to really celebrate the holiday in whatever situation you find yourself. Yes, you may not be with family or in the most comfortable place, but you can enjoy the spirit and the deeper intent of the holiday. Perhaps, the real intent of the holiday is the celebration of the birth of faith in the basic goodness of people. Find charity in giving of yourself, even if this is only warm greeting to the next person you meet. Make your celebration count by connecting, as deeply as you can, with the next traveller you meet on the road of life…
Blessings to you, your family, and to the all the peoples of our world. The goodness of these warm thoughts and feelings can help to create a chain reaction of unconditional love and higher consciousness that we can all cherish and bask within.
